Collateral Damage of the Hans Smedema Cover-up
Law Enforcement and Public Prosecutors
- Ruud Rosingh (Managing Prosecutor, Leeuwarden): On January 12, 1991, Rosingh bravely initiated an official investigation into the brutal gang rape of Smedema’s wife [3, 4]. He was immediately silenced by the College of Procurators General, explicitly ordered to halt the investigation, and forcibly relocated to Zwolle by the Ministry of Justice, which destroyed his career [3, 4].
- Haye Bruinsma (Sex-Crime Detective, Drachten): In April 2004, Bruinsma attempted to file an official police report (proces-verbaal) based on Smedema’s highly detailed criminal complaints [4, 5]. He was explicitly and formally forbidden by a letter from the Ministry of Justice from drafting the report, actively blocking the creation of objective evidence [4, 5].
- Jack Smedema / “Nephew Jack” (Rijkspolitie Officer, Duiven): Hans Smedema’s own nephew, a state police officer, was fired from the national police force around 1990 [4, 5]. He lost his position for “unlawful interference” simply for attempting to report the horrifying crimes against his uncle to his superiors [4, 5].
- Peter Slot (Head of Police, Leeuwarden / Manager Police Province Friesland): After Smedema asked about his files in 2000, Slot was allegedly ordered to keep the information secret and told Smedema, “I am not allowed to say anything” [6, 7]. Slot was quickly transferred to a position where he no longer had the authority to carry out investigations [6].
- Detective Voshol (Sex-crime detective, Leeuwarden): While attempting to investigate the 1991 rape, Voshol discovered that crucial police files were missing or had been deliberately removed [8]. He was ultimately ordered not to investigate the rapes of Smedema’s defenseless wife [9].
- Teun Keuzenkamp (Neighbor and Military Intelligence Officer): In 1975, Keuzenkamp discovered that Smedema was being drugged daily with ketamine [10, 11]. After investigating the suspicious pills, he was fired for “unlawful interference,” forced to relocate to another town, and received the chilling warning, “had you just not gotten involved!” [11, 12].
Intelligence and International Figures
- Major Al Rust (US Military Intelligence / CIA Agent): In 1983, Rust discovered the 30-page “Frankfurt Dossier,” a Dutch intelligence file detailing Smedema’s torture and the cover-up [3, 4]. Because he tried to help Smedema, the Dutch Ministry of Justice lied to the US government, denying the file’s existence [3, 5]. As a direct result, Rust was wrongfully dismissed from Military Intelligence in 1987, falsely accused, and imprisoned [3, 5]. He lost a decade of his life before winning his appeal in 1996 with a copy of the erased dossier, receiving a $1 million settlement [4, 5].
Legal Professionals
- Ad Speksnijder (Lawyer, Legal Aid Leeuwarden): Speksnijder initially wished to help but was explicitly ordered by Ministry of Justice officials not to provide legal aid [13, 14]. During a meeting with Smedema, a briefcase containing recording equipment was left in the room by justice officials, and Speksnijder confirmed he was pressured to withhold assistance [13, 15].
- Johan Verwilligen (Lawyer, Drachten): Knew in 2004 that no lawyer would be allowed to assist Smedema and was visited by the “Group Mengele” with misleading information to prevent him from helping [16, 17].
- A. (Bram) Moszkowicz (High-Profile Defense Attorney): Took on the defamation portion of Smedema’s case but was explicitly forbidden from assisting with the main conspiracy case under the guise of “state security” [15, 18]. His firm was financially targeted and intimidated by state tax authorities (FIOD) to render him ineffective in mounting a defense [18, 19].
Medical Professionals
- Dr. J.C. Lefering (General Practitioner, Drachten): In September 1978, Dr. Lefering discovered a letter from a previous doctor revealing the secret hypnosis and cover-up orchestrated by Prof. Dr. Onno van der Hart [20]. Lefering was initially furious and wanted to confront the perpetrators, but the Omerta Organization quickly intervened [20, 21]. Lefering was completely subjugated by the state’s “Cordon Sanitaire” and was forced to vehemently lie, claiming he “forgot” everything and that the letter never existed [21].
Journalists, Whistleblowers, and Citizens
- Cees van ‘t Hoog (Journalist and Neighbor, ‘t Harde): Began investigating the abuse and pedophile ring operating in ‘t Harde and got “too close to the truth” [3, 5]. He was permanently silenced and murdered in 1980 via a staged car crash and a Ketamine-induced heart attack [3-5].
- Elise Boers (Whistleblower): A part-time employee for the Ministry of Justice working at the real estate agency of Smedema’s brother, Johan [22, 23]. She discovered the conspiracy, warned Smedema in 1999 that his children were not his, and immediately resigned due to the unethical cover-up [22, 24]. She was subsequently attacked and accused of “unlawful interference” [24].
- Tiny Grobben & Arie Timmermans: Tiny Grobben was allegedly a victim alongside Smedema’s wife in 1974 and 1976 [11, 25]. She suffered lasting psychological consequences, required psychiatric treatment, and later denied the abuse out of profound fear [11, 25]. Her partner, Arie Timmermans, also denied earlier statements due to intimidation by the cover-up [11, 25].
- Editor of ‘BruTaal’ (Linguistic Checker): In 2007, she was hired to check Smedema’s manuscript [24]. She warned him that Joris Demmink and the Ministry of Justice had offered her 3,000 euros to secretly add extra texts to frame Smedema [24, 26]. When she confirmed this manipulation to the FBI/CIA in 2009, she was targeted by the AIVD/Justice [24].
- Martin van der Spek (Top Administrator, Grontmij Pension Fund): Fired from his holding company after honestly warning Smedema about the conspiracy, completely unaware that Smedema’s office phone had a listening microphone tapped by Jaap Duijs and Justice officials [27, 28].
- Rotary Mentors and Colleagues: Several associates who discovered the cover-up and attempted to defend Smedema or threaten Jaap Duijs—including Chris Kruisinga, Paul Brenninkmeyer, Ger de Vries, Albert Tiemersma, and American executives George or Neil Baker—all died suddenly under highly suspicious circumstances, mostly from fast-acting cancer or car accidents [28].
- Spanish Helper (L’Alfàs del Pi): A young woman who wanted to partner with Smedema to help solve the cover-up in December 2015 was immediately raped by an AIVD perpetrator who impersonated Smedema using a passport with his name [26, 29].
- “Ad” (Retired Dutch Police Detective): Intervened during an electroshock torture session in Catral, Spain, using his service pistol to chase away perpetrators Onno van der Hart and Jaap Duijs [30]. He later testified about the event to US Judge Rex J. Ford [30].
- Underage Victims of Jaap Duijs: Because Jaap Duijs operated under the untouchable umbrella of “State Security” as Smedema’s covert watcher, he was allowed to continuously drug and rape dozens of underage girls in Drachten [31]. Their desperate police complaints were systematically dismissed and suppressed by Joris Demmink [31, 32].
